About free CPR classes

Previous Entry free CPR classes Dec. 13th, 2009 @ 09:59 pm Next Entry
All right, Tucson. I, like many of you, am unemployed. I'm looking for classes, such as CPR or first aid classes, that I can put on my resume to make it more awesome. TFD offers classes, but they cost $25 that I don't have. Do any of you smart people know where to take these classes for free?

If there aren't any free CPR or first aid classes, does anyone know where to volunteer that will look awesome on my resume?

I would suggest calling one of the American Red Cross's in Tucson and see if they know of any. I think there is usually a nominal fee tho as the people giving them endure some costs as well..but I have taken them places where it was much less than $25.00(tho not in Tucson) Also if you can get a group of people to do it often that will decrease the cost as well..at least in my experience. good luck!

Dunno about free, but if you're doing CPR, I HIGHLY recommend Save a Life over Red Cross.

-They're cheaper. ($50 for compared to $65 for Child, Infant and Adult First Aid, AED & CPR. You can also split it and do CPR for $25 and First Aid for $25, which is what I did last time due to finances)
-It's taught by Fire Fighters and EMTs, who do this every day, not some guy reading out a book.
-It's more in-depth, with practical knowledge.
-And Save a Life won't harass you for the next several years via phone and mail to send them money 'now that they've helped you'.
