Posting Access Apr. 8th, 2013 @ 09:49 am
Hi, everyone. Recently I found out some members have been having difficulty posting in this community because it was flagging their content as spam (when it wasn't). I changed the settings to make it easier for people to post, but it's possible that the new settings will open us up to actual spam. If that happens and it's not taken down quickly, feel free to email me at footnotefetish [at] livejournal [dot] com. With the exception of some Saturdays and Sundays, I'm usually online enough that I can take spam down shortly after being notified. Thanks!

Crawlies from the Coccinellidae Family Apr. 7th, 2013 @ 06:47 am
I'm helping a friend of mine find some ladybugs for her garden and yard, but so far the places she's gone haven't had them, and they didn't know who did. She's been to Desert Survivors and (if I remember correctly) Plants for the Southwest. Does anyone happen to know of any places that usually has them?

could someone recommend me a good DR who will test my thyroid? I have worked out for the last 12 weeks cut all processed foods out of my diet and everything and I think im turning into a frigging rabbit and yet i havent even dropped one ounce. My DR won't test my thyroid and is telling me I'm full of shit. I need a new DR. Any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.

Buffalo/Bison Meat Nov. 15th, 2012 @ 09:28 pm
Curious -- Anyone know stores that regularly carry quality cuts of buffalo or bison meat (think more steaks and less ground)? My husband and I think it would be fun and tasty to get a couple for our Thanksgiving Day dinner.

I've seen them only occasionally at the Sunflower/Sprouts on Speedway. Also intermittently at the Whole Foods on the same street, though said meat was not in the showcase last time I was there.

It's That Time of Year!! Fall Festival at Agua Linda Farm! Oct. 19th, 2012 @ 07:57 pm
The Agua Linda Fall Festival is in full swing! The weather is be perfect for a day on the farm, so bring the whole gang and help spread the word!

The festival will run Friday, Saturday & Sunday throughout the rest of October, with the following hours:

Fridays: open to the public at 5pm and staying open 'til 9pm for Movie Night by the pumpkin Patch
Saturdays: open 10am-9pm Movie Night on Saturdays now as well!
Sundays: 10am - 5pm

Your $5 per person (except children under 2, who will not be charged) admission includes hayrides, petting zoo, hay pyramid, jumping castle and kid-friendly hay-bale maze at no extra cost! Also included is the three-acre "Family Maze". This maze is in a pasture full of milo, which looks like corn but only grows about 4-5 feet tall. This family-friendly maze is tall enough to make it easy to get lost in, while still enjoying the amazing views of the mountains beyond. New this year is the Tyke Track (John Deere Tricyles for the kids!)!!

Also available are pony rides, delicious farm raised burgers, homemade pumpkin pie and other concessions, along with the farm store featuring local veggies, jams, honey, breads and other products and, of course, PUMPKINS!!!

The farm will also be hosting some "special features" on various days of the festival and you can find out about these -- and more about the fall festival in general -- at the Agua Linda website.

Agua Linda Farm is a sustainable, direct to consumer family farm which uses natural pest and weed controls and their beef cows are grass pastured, antibiotic and hormone free. Agua Linda Farm is proud to offer our community an opportunity to re-connect with the rural farm experience, while providing seasonal, naturally grown and raised foods, and education and entertainment to their visitors.

Agua Linda Farm is located a convenient 30 minutes south of Tucson on the I19. So, come out with your family, with your date, with your friends ... and support your local agriculture!

More information about Agua Linda Farm, and the Fall Festival, can be found at their webpage, here or on their facebook page here.

restaurant review/help wanted Sep. 26th, 2012 @ 12:42 pm
I finally checked out Don Pedro's Peruvian Bistro. The food was unique and delicious, and the place was clean and comfortable. But in contrast with most of the reviews I read, the service was terrible. Every step of the dining experience took forever. But to be fair, they have "help wanted" signs up for several positions in the kitchen, and the waitresses seemed to be spending most of their time back there — perhaps pulling double duty. So if you're looking for restaurant work, check them out. Seems like a nice place to work, if not eat right now.

Hi Tucson!

Is there a good place in town for me to take my digital camera for repair?

Thanks in advance!
